Orlando Vacations—Much More than Disney

Those of you wondering if it’s possible to take a vacation to Orlando without hitting Disneyworld can rest assured. Orlando vacations offer much more than a photo opportunity with the world’s most famous mouse (or any of his cohorts). Disneyworld’s certainly not for all people. But the city of Orlando’s got something for everyone.

  • The Everglades are not just a no-man’s land of alligator infested swamps. Although you might not want to take up residence there, you can take guided excursions from the safety of an airboat.
  • If you’re into taking in exciting nightlife when you vacation, Orlando could be the spot you’ve been hungering for. The Cuba Libre Restaurant and Orlando Rum Bar is an excellent way to introduce your taste buds to uniquely Cuban flavored dishes, then dance off the calories and the rum buzz to the distinct, infectious rhythms of local musicians.
  • History buffs rave about Orlando’s Fort Christmas, a historical state park about 20 miles from Orlando that dates back to 1837 during the time of the Seminole Indian Wars. The fort also holds twice-yearly militia reenactments that add to the educational experience.
