Great Science Museums Near Philadelphia Hotels

Philadelphia’s history and culture have spawned dozens of world-class museums. If you’re interested in science, history and medicine, the museums near the best Philadelphia hotels will offer plenty of knowledge and culture for you to soak up.

The Chemical Heritage Foundation museum, The Wagner Free Institute of Science and the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology are sure to please science fans. All three museums are appropriate for school-aged kids and up. The Wagner is particularly interesting, since it approaches artifacts in original Victorian-aged exhibits. Kids who are into skeletons will love the displays of animal and fossil skeletons.

If you’re a fan of medical history or even medical television shows, you may love the sometimes-gory Mütter Museum. This museum displays hundreds of specimens and anatomical oddities. This museum isn’t for the faint of heart thanks to the no-holds-barred approach to sharing medical artifacts.

The Franklin Institute pioneered hands-on exhibits. This family-friendly museum allows visitors to interact with lessons that help teach sciences like physics and anatomy. Exhibits include opportunities to learn about weather and sports medicine.

Really into bugs? The Philadelphia Insectarium, founded by a local pest control professional, is the only insect museum located near Philadelphia hotels. Don’t miss the glow in the dark scorpions.
