Drink Lots of Liquids

Kids, like any other living creature, get unhappy when they are not properly fed and watered. Make sure you take frequent breaks for food, and carry extra water or gatorade with you. It's amazing how quickly an unhappy child can become content again if you simply do these two things.

Five Must-See Attractions to Visit on your Disney World Vacation

When heading to Orlando on a Disney World Vacation, be sure to visit these must-see attractions.

  • Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom: You can’t go to Walt Disney World without walking up Main Street to the iconic castle at the heart of the Magic Kingdom. Stay in the evening for the fireworks show and catch a glimpse of Tinkerbell.
  • Disney’s Boardwalk: Wind down from the theme parks with a quieter evening at the Boardwalk. If you time it right, you can usually catch fireworks from Epcot. Check out the fun dance hall on weekend nights.
  • Disney Resorts: Stay on Disney property for convenient access to the theme parks. Try booking Disney World vacation packages at the Swan or Dolphin resorts for an easy walk to Epcot and a short ferry ride to Hollywood Studios. Each resort has something unique and fun to offer.
  • The Animal Kingdom Safari: Get to Animal Kingdom early and head out on the safari while the morning temperatures remain cool. You might catch a roaring lion or a close-up look at a white rhino.
  • Character Dining: With over a dozen options, it’s easy to find the perfect character breakfast, lunch or dinner. Try lunch at the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom for the famous sundae bar.

Traveling with Babies or Toddlers

Traveling with babies or toddlers? Reduce the stress by swapping homes with another young family. Your children will have new toys and books to use, possibly local playmates, and you won`t need to bring so much stuff with you. You may even have a willing local babysitter to give you a break from the children.

Disney World Vacation Transportation Guide

Before you embark on your Walt Disney World vacation, find out how to get where you’re going. Here are the basic modes of transportation on the Disney property.

Official Disney Transportation
If you’re staying in one of the Disney World vacation resorts or hotels, transportation is included in your stay. Depending on the resort, this could include the monorail, a ferry, or a bus. The monorail runs through a few of the resorts, including The Contemporary and The Polynesian. Waterfront resorts like the Disney's Beach Club Resort and Fort Wilderness feature water taxis.

Disney Parking Lots
Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom have their own parking lots. If you’re traveling to the Magic Kingdom, you’ll have to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center. Once you’ve parked, you can board a monorail or the big ferryboat over to the Magic Kingdom.

The Disney water parks, Downtown Disney, and Disney’s Boardwalk have their own parking lots. Parking at Downtown Disney and Disney’s Boardwalk is free.

Park Hopping
If you’re traveling from park to park in one day, consider leaving your car. While you can jump from parking lot to parking lot without having to pay for parking again, it’s often quicker to just use the monorail or the Disney bus system.

Plan with the Kids

Don't just make the vacation plans and then tell the kids they Will Enjoy It. Involve them in the plans. Let them help choose what to see and do. The more they feel like they had input into the event, the more they'll feel pleased with results they had a hand in.

Reduce the stress of traveling with youngsters

Traveling with babies or toddlers? Reduce the stress by swapping homes with another young family. Your children will have new toys and books to use, possibly local playmates, and you won`t need to bring so much stuff with you. You may even have a willing local babysitter to give you a break from the children.

Finding a Lost Kid

When traveling with children, be sure you have a recent photo of each one and arrange a meeting point if you become separated.

Find a Booth Seat

If you've got a young kid, get a booth seat and put the child in where they can't cause much trouble. It's better than trying to keep them sitting properly in a chair, with the legs down, and not running around when they get bored.

Safety Seats

All states in the US require children under 4 years old to be in an approved child-safety seat while riding in an automobile.

Snacks and Kids

When traveling with kids, be sure to take plenty of snacks and bottled water or other drinks. You never know when you might be in a traffic jam or delayed on an airplane runway.
